This article argues that the recent US/Israeli attack on Iran is deeply undermining the post-1945 rules-based international order, with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) as a key casualty. This action, alongside wider shifts, fuels a dangerous sentiment: nuclear weapons are seen as the ultimate security guarantor, potentially triggering a catastrophic proliferation cascade.
